Purpose. To study the role of computed tomography (CT) in the diagnosis and evaluating of the dynamics in the course of viral pneumonia associated with COVID-19.

Materials and methods. We demonstrate a clinical case of a 59-year-old patient who was diagnosed with viral pneumonia caused by a new coronavirus infection SARS-CoV-2. During the treatment, various methods of correction of the “cytokine storm” were used, including cytokine sorption and selective plasma filtration. To assess the dynamics of the course of the disease, CT data of the chest organs were used.

Results. An analysis of a series of CT examinations together with monitoring changes in laboratory data made it possible to choose a therapy that helped to cure the patient.

Conclusion. Computed tomography is an effective method for assessing the dynamics of viral pneumonia in COVID-19.
