DOPPLER ULTRASOUND AND COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY FINDINGS IN GALLSTONE ILEUS

Gallstone ileus is a rare complication of gallstone disease, it causes bowel obstruction and achieves high mortality due to the predilected elderly patients and late diagnosis, for which different modalities of imaging are used. Materials and methods. This case presents a 64-year-old man who developed this condition due to recurrent cholecystitis, diagnosed by ultrasound and CT scan, gallstone removed by surgery. Treatment is based on the patient's clinical status and should be sorted out according to comorbidities, hemodynamic stability, and surgical risk. Also a brief literature review is presented.
