RADIAOLOGY OF ODONTOGENIC MAXILLARY SINUSITIS

iagnosis of odontogenic maxillary sinusitis is an urgent problem due to the widespread use of dental treatment and various types of surgical treatment in the region of the upper jaw alveolar process.

This article provides complete information on this issue: etiology and pathogenesis, risk factors and features of the disease development, classification. The main section of the review is devoted to the radiological diagnostics of odontogenic sinusitis, mainly multislice and cone-beam computed tomography, depending on the cause of sinusitis: periapical changes, endodontic treatment, tooth extraction, sinus lifting and formation of an oroantral anastomosis, complications of dental implantation, and attachment fungal infection.

An overview of the “odontogenicity index” is also presented, the criteria of which must be taken into account by radiologists when examining patients of this category.
